12 Bigs By Christmas: Baseball bonds Brothers
Professional ballplayers are heroes to little boys. But Big Brother Alex Schroeder is proof that you don't have to be a professional to be a hero. You can get that title by sharing your interests and spending time with a child who wants a friend through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Alex took Trevon to his first Cubs game and they hung around after the game, hoping to get some autographs and see players.
Alex recently challenged Trevon to get all As and Bs in school and Trevon met that challenge and received a baseball bat as a reward. "Trevon is a good little baseball player," says Alex, who enjoys watching Trevon take the field.
"I continue to see a growing amount of trust from Trevon, as well," Alex said, "which is very rewarding." Trevon has become more confident and more of a leader because of Alex being there for him and being a positive role model.
