Aurora

'The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940'

West Aurora High School will present its fall play, "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940," at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 and 21 in the auditorium, 1201 W. New York St.

Tickets are $8, all seats reserved, and are available by calling 630-301-5600.

The comedy centers around a gathering of producers, directors, lyricists and composers at the home of Elsa Von Grossenknueten, a patron of the arts. But there's a catch: The last time this creative team was gathered, a string of murders took place.

Rosary High School will host open house

Rosary High School is hosting an open house for fifth- to eighth-grade girls and their families from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 15. A presentation will be given at 12:45, followed by guided tours of the campus. Guests can also visit with current Rosary students and faculty. No registration is required.

Rosary High School is an all-girls Catholic, college preparatory high school, sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield. Rosary is at 901 N. Edgelawn Drive. For more information, call the office of admissions at 630-896-0831, ext. 12, or visit www.rosaryhs.com.

Sandwich

Veterans Day weekend pancake breakfast slated

Indian Valley Vocational Center's SkillsUSA organization will sponsor a pancake and sausage breakfast at the Sandwich Fire Station from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Advance tickets are $5 for adults; $7 at door. Tickets are $3 for children under 12 and adults over 65. Members of the military are free with military ID.

SkillsUSA is a state and national organization that gives high school students the opportunity to belong to a group that stresses leadership, team building, professional development and community service. Students may participate in regional, state and national competitions in technical and action skills areas. For more information, call 815-786-9873.

Maple Park

'Reaching Outpost'

The Kaneland High School fall show, "Reaching Outpost," is a world premiere by professional New York playwright James Carter. This play is especially exciting to the cast members because they met and workshopped with the playwright on the weekend of Sept. 25.

It is a large cast of 30 students. Join the teens as they go on a quest where they overcome obstacles to gain a greater understanding of the happenings in their world. The play is infused with drama, humor, action and choreographed fight sequences.

The dates of the show are 7 p.m. Nov. 13 and 14, and 2 p.m. Nov. 15. Performances are in the Kaneland High School Auditorium. For tickets, visit www.kaneland.org/khs/Tickets, or buy them at the door. Cost is $5 for students and $2 for children.
