Church Rummage and Bake Sale: The fall Rummage and Bake Sale will be held from noon to 6 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Jackson and Fourth Avenue, Aurora. Saturday is half-price day, or fill a bag for $2 starting at 10 a.m.
"Share the Warmth": Living Spirit Lutheran Church in Oswego is helping to "Share the Warmth" this winter by collecting mittens, hats and gloves for all ages. The goal is to collect 50 of each item by Thanksgiving. All donations will be delivered to Mutual Ground women's shelter in Aurora. Bring items to the Living Spirit Church office at 74 F. Stonehill Road in Oswego or bring to church on Sunday mornings between 9 a.m. and noon. A Baby Changes Everything: The 110-voice Spirit of Life Chorus will present "A Baby Changes Everything" at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Family Life Center of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 950 Hart Road. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. The chorus, now in its 19 season, presents 16 concerts a season. Members come from 41 Catholic, Lutheran and Protestant congregations in the Chicagoland area.

Coping with Loss and Change: From 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 3 to Dec. 7, and 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 4 to Dec. 9, Fox Valley Unity Church at 230 Webster St. in Batavia will hold a six-week course to assist those going through the process of loss and change. Some topics to be discussed: identifying areas of loss and grief, living with grief, how the body grieves, handling the holidays spiritually, gender differences in grief expression, what is "normal grief," and techniques for interacting with the dying and their families. Christmas Decoration Garage Sale: St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 320 S. Depot St., Somonauk, will hold a "Christmas Decoration Garage Sale" from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 7. Make an offer on the items.
Trinity Trio: The trio -- bazaar, rummage sale, bakery -- will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at Trinity Church United Methodist, Route 47 and Cannonball Trail, Yorkville. A soup lunch will be available. Dropoffs for the sale may be done daily 9 to 2 p.m. the week before the sale. All proceeds go to local and global missions.
Party-at-the-Pub: Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors is having its Party-at-the-Pub and Pledge Drive Kickoff at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 McNally's Irish Pub, 201 E. Main St., St. Charles. Surviving the Holidays: A two-hour seminar for those facing the holidays after the death of a loved one, separation or divorce. Corned beef and cabbage dinner: St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Hinckley will host its annual corned beef and cabbage dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12. Carrots, potatoes, homemade rolls, homemade beet relish and wonderful desserts made by church members also will be served. Tickets are $9 for adults, $6 for children 6 to 12, and free for 5 and young; available at the door. A bazaar in the back of the sanctuary with handmade items and tasty treats will begin at 3:30. "Interfaith Cooperation," a workshop for teens and adults, will be held Nov. 14 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 40W451 Fox Mill Blvd., St. Charles. Hind Makki, staff member of Interfaith Youth Core of Chicago, will be the presenter. IFYC was founded in 1998 by Eboo Patel, author of "Acts of Faith." The Dish On Your Mediterranean Table: St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church's Philoptochos group has published a cookbook of more than 300 family favorite recipes collected from parish members and friends.
