October 29, 2009

Fox Valley

November declared Veterans month

The Fox Valley Park District has proclaimed November as Veterans Recognition Month and will pay homage with special promotions, deals and discounts for veterans throughout the month.

As approved by the Board of Trustees at its monthly meeting recently, the Park District will offer free admittance for veterans and their families (spouses and children) to any of the district's three fitness centers — Eola Community Center (555 S. Eola Road), Prisco Community Center (150 W. Illinois Ave.) and Vaughan Athletic Center (2121 W. Indian Trail).

The district also is holding a pair of free Family Fun Nights in the E-Fit interactive fitness room at the Eola Center. Veterans and families can enjoy free use from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 and from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 15.

Veterans and their families also can enjoy 10 percent discounts off their entire food bill at Orchard Valley Restaurant throughout the month.

The offers also apply to members of the National Guard and Reserves. Veterans and active members of the military need to show a valid military ID card.
