Aurora University offers vaccinations

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aurora University's Wellness Center will host vaccinations for flu, pneumonia, meningitis and a booster for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis in Thornton Gymnasium in Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place. Fees are $25 to $100. Call 630-844-5434 for more.

Provena to host sleep clinic

From 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10, Provena Mercy Medical Center, 1325 N Highland Ave., will host a sleep clinic in the Behavioral Health Services Building. Those who find themselves becoming tired during the day, having difficulty waking up in the morning or snoring excessively are invited. Sean Rardin, MD, will explain the importance of sleep and ways to help you achieve a more restful night's sleep. He will also help attendees identify the signs of a sleep disorder and when it's time to seek medical assistance.

Margaret Lindskog from Provena Home Health will walk attendees through a sleep study and conduct a tour of the Provena Mercy Sleep Lab.

St. Charles

Lazarus House to sponsor walk

A walk to raise awareness about domestic violence will take place at 6:30 p.m. todayin St. Charles. The group will meet at the St. Charles Public Library, at Routes 25 and 64.

There will be a brief presentation and then walk to the St. Charles Police Department, where a second presentation will be held.

The walk will then proceed to the St. Charles Free Methodist Church, 214 Walnut St., for a final presentation in the fellowship hall. The evening will conclude with refreshments. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight to light the way.

Sugar Grove

Nursing students to help with vaccinations

Waubonsee Community College nursing students are volunteering at the Kane County Health Department's coming public H1N1 flu vaccination clinics. More than 100 upper-level nursing students will help at the county's nine clinics on Monday and Nov. 9.

The health department conducted an orientation session at the college's Sugar Grove campus, and all students will complete further competency testing at the clinical sites.

Valley West offers new program

Join the Valley West Community Hospital Diabetes Educators to learn current trends in eating with diabetes where "All foods can fit" is promoted. Sample recipes are provided from the Diabetes Center's newly published cookbook. Copies of the new cookbook will be available for purchase, and all proceeds go to the American Diabetes Association.
