Temple Wells, of Aurora, talks about her unsuccessful attempt to challenge a red-light camera citation at an administrative hearing at the Naperville Municipal Center. (Mary Beth Nolan/For Sun-Times Media)
Temple Wells drives through the intersection of Route 59 and North Aurora Road on her way to work each morning, just as she has for years. So when the Aurora woman received an automated ticket from the city of Naperville for running a right turn on a red light at the camera-monitored intersection, Wells was shocked. Wells was one of about 50 drivers waiting to make her case in an administrative hearing this month on automated red-light tickets.

It's 5 p.m. on a recent weekday, and the sun is far from setting on Oswego's east side. Actually, it's a sweltering 90 degrees, but that does not keep skateboarders from heading out to Oswego's newest skate park at Prairie Point Community Park, 4120 Plainfield Road.

His fate now in a jury's hands, Rod Blagojevich took his wife's hand, walked into a horde of reporters Wednesday and appealed to a higher court. "Ultimately, in the final analysis, Patti and I always have a deep and abiding faith in God,'' the former governor said. "And ultimately the decision will be with the jury, the men and women of the jury, and in God's hands.''

Final round follies at Illinois Open
Eric Meierdierks finally broke through at the Illinois Open, as the 25-year-old playing professional from Wilmette captured the 61st state championship by one shot over University of Illinois junior Luke Guthrie. Meierdierks, who has made the cut in every Illinois Open he's played in the last decade, played a solid 1-under 68 on Wednesday to finish the tournament at 6-under. "It's been a goal of mine to win this trophy for a long time and I'm very proud that I can finally hold it," Meierdierks said. "It's been a great week." Guthrie, the 36-hole leader, started off on fire and was 9-under for the tournament until he double-bogeyed the par 3 ninth hole and bogeyed Nos. 10 and 11.

Maybe one more time for Britney Spears
Bill Zwecker: We've heard it all before, but a regular BZ Hollywood source -- whose past accuracy has been excellent -- is convinced Britney Spears soon may be heading back down the aisle. According to my spy, Britney and her beau Jason Trawick -- joined by Trawick's parents -- were chatting about Chelsea Clinton's upcoming nuptials over a recent dinner at L.A.'s Grafton on Sunset Hotel.
