Honor Flight

On June 25, 2008, a group of local World War II veterans took an emotional journey to Washington, D.C., for free, courtesy of Honor Flight Chicago. They went to see the World War II Memorial, a majestic tribute to the brave men and women who fought to preserve our freedom. For most of them, it was their first trip to the memorial, and a chance to remember a different time, a time of heroes. The Beacon News was there, and in the stories and videos below, we’ll take you along.
