About The Beacon-News

The Beacon-News has been recognized repeatedly by the Associated Press, Illinois Press Association, Northern Illinois Newspaper Association and the Chicago Headline Club as one of the finest daily newspapers in Illinois. It is the main source of news, information and advertising for Aurora -- Illinois' second-largest city -- and more than a dozen communities along the Fox Valley.

The newspaper has three editions. The Aurora edition covers Aurora, North Aurora, Sugar Grove, Montgomery (in Kane County), Big Rock and Hinckley. The Kendall County edition focuses on Oswego, Yorkville, Montgomery (in Kendall County), Plano, Sandwich, Somonauk and Newark.

The Kane County edition includes Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, Elburn, Maple Park, Kaneville and Mooseheart.

The Beacon-News is Aurora's oldest business, first published in 1846, and is part of the Sun-Times Media Group.

Beacon-News readers benefit from the newspaper's rich resources in award-winning local reporting, wire services, cooperative efforts in partnership with the Chicago Sun-Times and its sister newspapers, and links through the newspaper's Web site.

The Beacon-News prints more than 175,000 copies per week, and has the largest daily circulation in most of the communities it serves.
